It’s A Bird, It’s A Plane, It’s A Wing???
It is NOT a UFO (or Superman). It is a drone delivery service. Our area is the first in America to be privilege to the new luxury on demand service, that is more of a necessity due to 380. It is all thanks to a Google subsidiary, Alphabet, who owns Wing.
I have seen y’all posting about strange flying objects “dropping” things in and around our neighborhood. I have been speaking and working with Wing for months (just offering a wealth of knowledge from a local’s point of view since they are from Seattle). They are harmless. They even sent me wing sauce as a thank you. ;) I sent them a list of small area businesses I would like to see them partner with. You should as well! I love to lift up small businesses.
You can read all about them here and here. They are already delivering items from Walgreen’s and Blue Bell in a neighboring community, so they are doing test flights and routes here. Since they will lower coffee from approximately six or seven yards via a sophisticated hook and their tethering system, they are also looking for places to safely land that are flat and free of other objects. You don’t want your breakfast and kid’s meds in the neighbor’s tree!
I have requested DONUT delivery!!! I told them that it is the ultimate Saturday morning fantasy to have your donuts brought to you.
You can hear the drones while outdoors, but they are not very loud. They do not interfere with air traffic, but they are working closely with the FAA. I have a LOT of questions and they were happy to answer them all. They even seemed excited I was interested. Their team is professional and courteous, so feel free to tell them what you would like that is 2.6 pounds or less that will fit in their proprietary box.

One of the perks of being first is that Wing calls its beta testing program the Early Fliers. All delivery fees for early flights are FREE. They could be priceless at certain times of the day due to 380, if you are a one car household, don’t feel well, have a mascara 911 emergency on date night, run out of formula at midnight, urgently need coffee…. The value-added is endless. Sign me up!
